Text description provided by the architects. The Pomaranč Residence occupies nearly its entire site, and is located between the main train station and the vineyards. The natural grade of the site creates an interesting opportunity. The architects chose to capitalize on the sloped character providing access to the residence at multiple levels, and by automobile and pedestrians accordingly. More about this project, including drawings following the break.
A large vertical entrance hall greets tenants, accessed from the street or from the garage, this space contains the central stairs with two flights and doors to each of the flats.
In the case of all living areas the window sills are brought down to the floor level to enable better connection of interior and exterior.
The duplex apartment situated on the upper stories avails of open space with large glazed areas, rooflight over the staircase and secondary lit bathrooms via translucent walls. The roof terrace on the top floor, is interconnected with the living area and takes advantage of the views of the city.
The residence represents symbiosis of the pragmatic house and a romantic house, maximizing the space to the clients needs and allowing individual enunciation.
